Third Reich Standing Bronze Pilot # 3266
Original German cast bronze figure of a standing pilot on marble base. This is a finely detailed bronze dating from the prewar 1930's. It shows a dramatic portrayal of a standing pilot pulling on a gauntlet. The face is well-sculpted and this could likely be Ernst Udet, who was making news in the 1930's with his goodwill flights to various countries, promoting his own. The bronze figure measures 7 1/4" and is mounted on its' original, variegated dark marble base with a brass nut and threaded rod. The overall height is just over 10". The condition is excellent, retaining all of the original chocolate brown patina, and no chips or losses to the base. A great Luftwaffe display piece.
