Feldhernnhalle Monument Desk Piece # 3404

This is an example of the rare Mahnmel that I handled many years ago here. I am going to run a link to the original listing and do a cut and paste. The piece is a standout with a beautiful bronze patina and no flaking or real distractions to speak of and just minor handling and dust. If memory serves me correctly this had come from John Pepera when he was still with us and he had gotten the piece from one of his ads. I had bought two from him back then. Piece has remnants of its original paper base over two hidden bolts.

Felderrnhalle Link

I have seen and handled many different pieces of the period and this one is just not encountered often. The piece measure 6w x 3d x 5h and is a good sized piece.

These were manufactured of a white metal and finished in a bronze finish typical of both prewar and war time pieces. The base is neat as it is original to the piece and is a green onyx type which while used is not encountered often and gives this piece an almost different personality and presence. Its very nice in my opinion and strengthens the subject.

The most noted and referenced event for the rise of the National Socialist party and Adolf Hitler was the Beer Hall Putsch, taking place on November,8 1923 would be Hitler's attempt to overthrow the Weimar republic and to take control of Munich.

When it was over 4 policemen and 16 participants of the N.S party would lie dead, and Adolf Hitler would got to Landsberg prison where he would pen Mein Kampf and be released to become the leader of Germany.

Upon his release and after having taken his place in the new government, Hitler would have the bodies of the fallen moved and each year they would be placed at Feldherrnnhalle along with a monument naming the fallen, passing the monument would mean a mandatory salute.

This item is a small version of the monument and is quite rare, of all my gallery items this one has generated many a mail with requests which have been held and parties notified.

Piece is displayed on an onyx like base and is quite nice, if you are into party pieces and pieces of significance relating to that aspect of the hobby, then this should work well.
