Adolf Hitler Crystal Stemware- J. Hutte # 3536
Over the years I have seen more bad glass of the etched variety and silver of the engraved variety than anything else. Typically as a rule of thumb I do not buy etched glass for a couple reasons, the fact that 99% of it is shit is one reason, the other is they really did not etch glass with hokey images and such and the same go's for silver and engraving. There are several examples of original glass with the most notable being manufactured by Baccarat for Hermann Goring and a large setting it was with various scenes incorporating hunting scenes and various lore, of course they're not etched in reality. Another example is a glass for the anniversary of the putsch of which I have seen and it is beautiful, it's also not etched. If you want to see etched glass you have to dealer sites who have 50 years experience who offer Billy Bob specials made with a portable sandblaster from Home Depot and marketed to new collectors by the elite.
This example is an original drinking glass attributed to Adolf Hitler. I have provided several links below to try and give an idea of what things should look like. The first link is WWII veteran Fred Butts and in Fred's hands are a tray of glasses that he took during the liberation of the eagles nest, these are not only veteran acquired, they're not etched either. They were manufactured by the firm of Josephine Hutte and appear in their 1935 catalog as well as 1936 I believe under the pattern called "Frohlinde". A photo of those pieces is provided from their catalog. In the same catalog also shown is a second pattern in the same year called "Josephine". This is Josephine and she is the tall example on the right measuring 200 mm.
The second link is an Alamy photo that was taken from HH auctions for the Josephine patterns many years ago, the tallest on the left is this piece. The third link is an auction dating back to 2011 in England for 4 of these glasses and again the larger example is shown for reference. There a couple other things you want to look for with higher end porcelain and glass that the Germans did. Not going to get into it. The Germans were catalog shoppers, all the silverware, porcelain, crystal, and most everything was catalog examples. Herman shopped at KPM, Hitler at Meissen and Nymphenburg, Himmler at Allach, and the silver is all catalog pattern as well.
This is an offering for an original crystal glass and it is crystal but it not etched, it's exactly what it should be. I'll be happy to take questions on this from interested buyers.
