Adolf Hitler Bronze Bust- Erich Schmidt-Kestner (1877–1941) # 3281

Took a a bit to pin down the artist for this one as there are two sizes for the piece and the larger is signed while this example does not appear to be. The artist is Erich Schmidt-Kestner (1877-1941) Born in Berlin, studied at the Academy of Arts in the city as well as the Dusseldorf Art Academy. Recognized for his work at an early age, Schmidt-Kestner began to exhibit as early as 1901 and produced bronzes regularly over the next 30 years while living in his native Berlin. Several of his public sculptures still stand in the city. The present lot is a classic example of the artist's work.

This is a large and heavily stylized bust of Adolf Hitler. The piece measures about 18 inches which in normal style would be twice life. It was cast by the well known foundry of Noack where Kestner was registered and had his foundry work done and who were responsible for some of the nicest works of the period done in bronze cast. It is marked by Noack and extra photos are available on request and I am working with new photo tools that are a bit of a challenge just yet. A very nice piece and working on the artist currently as he is known but may require some additional research. An excellent piece and nicely executed and the first Adolf I have had in some time.
