A very scarce cast bronze relief plaque of Benito Mussolini sculpted in by well-known Italian sculptor Giannino Castiglioni (1884-1971). It was cast by the Johnson foundry in Milan in 1922. This bronze portrayal was very successful and was produced in several sizes, and also used the image on badges and medals. This plaque measures 14" tall by 10" wide. Most examples in this size do not have the separately attached eagle at the top, making it somewhat scarce. The dramatic profile is backed by multiple flags with fascio pole tops. The eagle is quite high relief and makes an even stronger visual impact. Small original hole in each corner for mounting. Excellent condition with no metal damage or repair.
