Allach Porcelain- #155 Landsknecht Flötenspieler- Painted # 3505

Several Landsknecht models were produced at Allach to include the Flötenspieler and were later models produced during wartime. Several are depicted in a photo taken at a table in front of Adolf Hitler along with Himmler, and Hermann Fegelein his adjutant, which I will add here now. Hitler did take a certain joy in the figures based on the photo but also took some time to snicker at Himmler's interests in reviving ancient pottery and pagan style pieces which were utilized in the framework of the SS family.

The curious nature of this piece is that it was actually part of a pair, a pair that likely never left PMA and depict late war features or non features. While both pieces were clearly Allach paint one was minus a few accents and this piece had an unpainted sword hilt and grip. They were also both high glaze and while I have no doubt that an advanced collector grabbed the other piece, I do not think he recognized they were a pair. So here for consideration is a very nice Landsknecht Flotenspieler in painted form, it does have a minor loss at the end of the flute which to a skilled artisan a small issue. Two minor paint imperfections are present which are easily rectified with one being a small void to the hair in front but not even noticeable with naked eye, and the 2nd being the sword grip and hilt, which I personally would leave alone.

With Allach and its reputation for perfection as it is, it is always wise to know what your'e looking at. But the process of manufacture from year to year and from piece to piece is often lost to the lack of access to examine the pieces themselves. Like anything else there is a big picture and Allach has one and this piece is a nice example and its not $15,000.00 either. Beautiful piece.
