Hermann Flegeleien Autographed Equestrian Photo 1938 # 3582

This was in a long time collection for many years and always liked it. Was sent to auction and I grabbed it for myself and its an ink signed Herman Fegelein autograph on a period photo of him jumping a hurdle in 1938. He is wearing a white summer tunic and his gray visor. At this time he would have been a Standartenfuhrer and was promoted later to I believe Gruppenfuhrer and was Himmler's adjutant. Married to Eva Brauns sister, Gretl he would in the end be Hitler's brother in law.

In the bunker in the last days in Berlin Hitler discovered that Himmler had reached out to Eisenhower to see if a deal could be made, this was not an option. Hitler furious summoned Fegelein who was nowhere to be found.  Eventually I think he was found in a brothel so drunk he could not stand up and was dragged back to the bunker complex and a court martial of some sort was discussed. The code of military justice dictated that a defendant had to be able to defend himself but he could not stand up and reports state he was sick. Erhard Milsch who was the remaining survivor of the bunker up until a few years back stated that Eva had pleaded with Hitler to spare him as Gretl was pregnant. There are a few statements and not all align. But he was taken out and shot. It's a nice piece and I had it reframed but kept the frame it came in.
