Nuremberg Reichsparteitage Table Pennant- Boxed
Boxed Nürnberg " die Stadt der Reichsparteitage " table pennant, complete with its original bakelight base and pole with acorn finial. We all like to talk about how rare things are and I do it myself, but its really all I do, so in many cases it is rare. This thing I have never seen before in all my years doing this stuff and I know I will have mail from a couple guys about my valuation, of course the same guys that list standard Kriegsmarine flags for 850-1200.00 that outnumber this piece by 5000/1.
I used to buy a lot of desk pieces in general but today they are increasingly difficult to find, and when you do most all have problems if their not fake outright. Very hard top buy nice pieces and when people are looking at bad examples all the time they look at the pricing and believe it. The Chinese and Pakistani's are knocking out table pieces left and right, not only are they hitting auction blocks and dealer sites from here and throughout Europe, but they actually send me their catalogs. Today I won't even go near a desk piece unless its either the best example I have seen, like this one, or maybe if it meets a budget price for one of the more price conscious collectors.
As H.R Director and Head of Sensitivity Training for TRA my intention for this piece was to place it on my desk because it is in fact the best I have seen, however when I received it I realized that the split cotter pin holding in the base has never been removed. It is in fact the best table flag I've seen and I will offer it for some time. The piece is mint in the box and from Nuremberg which was the official location for the yearly rally's and even bears the official stamp for Nurnberg. I believe I am seeing a date under the stamp for 1935 but not gonna mess with it. Its a great piece in my opinion and a first for me in terms of bing complete.
