Bronze Ehrenpokal Adler Statue- Rare

The Eherenpokal fighting eagles are not often encountered and when they are they run about 2500.00. This pair I have had for some time now and there are several variations. The early versions which this would be consist of bronze fighting birds in the style found on the Ehrenpokal and will have ivory or bone beaks and the patina in various form with this example having an early greenish paint like application. I would date these somewhere in the aftermath of WWI or early 1920's. The later versions or variants do not have the organic beaks and may be found with painted highlights. Manufactured from the early 1900's through the Third Reich I believe these are anything but common and I am aware of two other examples over the last 5 years.

This is a fairly large and heavy piece with the birds having 9 1/2 inch wing spans. Mounted on a piece of jade styled like a rock and then atop a piece of black marble. Patina is a dual tone green with the underside of the wings darker then the uppers, it is a period patina and seeing that piece pushes 100 years old it does have a few blemishes and touch ups which are almost unnoticeable is standard light. A very nice piece and not encountered all that often.
