Young Raven- Schwarzburger ( Wilhelm Neuhaeuser ) # 3346

Wilhelm Neuhaeuser...(German, born in Katzhuette, Thueringer Wald, 1885-1960)

Ein Sitzender Jungvogel 17 x 20cm -  (6.7 x 7.9 in.)

Young Raven, produced for Schwarzburger Werkstaetten 1914, model 1067

This talented artist worked for some of the finest porcelain companies in Germany, to include Hertwig, Schwarzburger, Nymphenburg and Allach.
Ravens play a role in sagas and fairy tales all over the world. In Norse mythology they symbolize wisdom. The chief god Odin always had two black ravens with him who sat on his shoulders and reported everything happening in the world to him. This wisdom is reflected in the young bird, a design by Wilhelm Neuhäuser from 1914. The artist was fascinated with birds on a scientific level. Ravens are the most intelligent birds. For example, they have shown in experiments the ability to plan complete actions in advance.

This glazed, white porcelain sculpture reflects the highest quality and attention to detail.  There are no cracks, chips or repairs. One small pin-head sized burn mark on the birds left shoulder area, visible in the photos. The piece is signed with the artists name lightly impressed on the rear of the base.

The is a rare piece....
