Fritz Weitzel # 986
Fritz Weitzel ( 1904-1940 ) Publisher of the SS Family Guide was more
than just an important figure during the Reich, he was so important
that Himmler forbid him to fly, an order noted for only one other man,
Reinhard Heydrich.
A member of the Nazi party as of 1925 and
the SS in 1926, he would be promoted to the leader of The SS in the
Rheinland and Ruhr.
Fritz Weitzel along with Richard Darre played pivotal roles in the structure of the SS and its ritual practices, with his SS family guide published in 1939, it would be this guide that would be utilized by the SS to teach the men of the SS their place within the state, and their heritage and significance of various rituals.
The guide by design would attempt to reinvigorate the
ritual practices of the Germanic tribes prior to the birth of Christ.
The text incorporates the history and practices of the ancient European
cultures and it is easy to see why this man was of such high importance
to Himmler as the book by design is a product of long term thinking, and
the 1000 Year Reich was not a campaign motto, it was a long term goal.
While
the SS Family Guide is not known to all, the book if applied over
several generations might very well have wiped Christianity off the map
and succeeded in changing European culture in a manner that would have
normally taken centuries.
The process of converting the SS
man from Catholic upbringing would take some time and Himmler recognized
this and chartered a course to gradually introduce a Germanic religion
of pre- Christian roots. With the growth of the SS towards the end of
the 30's, more and more SS men were leaving the church to follow the
ritual of early Germanic civilization.
Himmler and Weitzel both recognized that it was the Christians that had taken religious control over Europe, and that it was wise not to aggressively go after the church. Paganism was deep rooted and thousands of years old, the transition at the time of the Christian takeover left many without a faith and practicing their rituals such as Easter, and what is now known as Christmas could be met with severe punishment from the newly formed Christian establishment, yet they continued to practice their rituals knowing the danger.
The solution by the Christian authorities was
to integrate the Pagan symbols amongst Christian festivities, the Yule
tree is now a Christmas tree, the wedding ring has Pagan heritage, and
the Birth date of Christ is unknown, but December 25 was the date of
winter solstice and the Nativity of the Sun. The date was also utilized
within the Roman empire as the birthday of various gods, and they sought
to hide the original meaning of the festivities from future generations
through manipulation and by taking Pagan ritual and making it
Christian, even St. Nikolaus now Santa Claus is rooted with Wodan, a God
of German ancestors who drove through the air leaving presents and to
announce the winter solstice.
Fritz Weitzel, was a man of intellect and knew his history, and his heritage. He also recognized that the strength of a people can only be derived from their roots, and in order for any great society to flourish it must have a cultural identity from which to draw that strength.
Weitzel died in June 1940 during a nightly aerial attack while driving through Dusseldorf.
