This pre-war cast Icarus is quite large and stands on its original base at 19 inches high and has a wingspan of 20 inches, its really big. Cast by Lauchammer and numbered these would have been rather limited and in some cases used for presentations. I don't know how many large ones were done but this is the 1st example that I have ever seen and have only had the smaller examples in the past.

The model is by Peter Breuer and it sits on its original base and the size really makes this piece one of those pieces where bigger is better. The use of Icarus during the National Socialist period is most often associated with the NSFK and the Luftwaffe.

I have written several of these up over the years and I have handled some pretty nice examples as well, this one needs no introduction really and the guy who is going to want this piece will know what it is. Lot of fakes and modern examples out there and see them all the time, this thing is the best and what I would generally call a tier 1 example.
