Reich Adler- Pre War # 1866
Going into the holidays I will be listing some nice bronze eagles for those that appreciate them. Nice original examples of various style and open to individual taste, but each example would do well as an accent piece for the collector in his collection or bunker.
Nazi era German eagle trophy for the winner of a 1930's decathalon in the city of Düsseldorf . This bronze eagle has a black/brown patina and a 9 1/2" wingspan. It is unsigned. It is mounted on a variegated green/white marble rectangular column attached to a black marble base by means of a threaded rod through the center. Attached with four brass pins is an engraved brass plaque which reads: Herausforderungspreis der Stadt Düsseldorf ~ Dem Sieger im leichtenathl. Zehnkampf der Düsseldorfer Turnerschaft 1887 e.V. (1887 is the founding date of the Düsseldorf Athletic Union) The eagle and base are both in excellent, original condition. Great Third Reich era display piece!
