Bergmann (Miner) Bronze by Peter Muller-Munk 1930 # 3275

This cast bronze sculpture of  a German miner dates from about 1930. It was sculpted by Peter Muller-Munk, German-American sculptor, metal worker and industrial designer. The slightly impressionist bronze measures 16" tall, is signed with the P in a circle monogram of the artist. It is also stamped by the foundry, W. Fuessel Berlin.  He carries a miner's lamp in his left hand and has a jackhammer, or similar device over his shoulder. Bronzes by Muller-Munk are scarce, and this one is a fine example of his work.
