In the 1800's Nymphenburg put out different settings related to hunting
made up of different pieces including porcelain walls, riders, and
various scenery much like a diorama made of porcelain. The turn of the
century saw some of these pieces reintroduced into the market.
The Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green sets each contained many pieces. The "Die Grüne Frankenthaler Jagd" series designed by Johann Wilhelm Lanz would have contained this particular piece along with upwards of twenty other pieces. I was pretty much unaware of these settings until I tripped over this piece in a web search and actually had to back browse several pages to confirm I was seeing a dead deer hanging from a tree, I was.
A most interesting subject and one that I was not going to pass up and its a great piece in my opinion.
