Karl Ens Grenade Thrower # 1150

Karl Ens established in 1861 was for the most part a cottage manufacturer and made various figures and figurines.

Like many companies with such a long history privatization and nationalization occur through the history of its existence and in some cases makes it a bit difficult to date particular figures and pieces due to marking conflicts in reference material and information available.

I believe the prewar or wartime example of this piece has a flat base and can have 2 variant markings in regards to color, this is example is one where the marking appears to be utilized both prewar and postwar and for this reason cannot really say when it was made with any degree of certainty.

It is however a nice piece and quite large standing over 14 inches tall and shows a Wehrmacht soldier in the process of tossing a grenade while retaining two backup grenades consisting of one in each boot. Piece is a glazed example and is in mint undamaged condition.
