Meissen Danzig Commemoratice Plate # 587

White porcelain with blue-painted decoration. In the centre, a representation of the famous Danzig warship "Peter von Danzig" from the 15th century. Around this, Hitler's words from his Danzig speech on the 19th of September 1939 "Danzig war deutsch, Danzig ist deutsch geblieben and Danzig wird von jetzt ab deutsch sein, so lange es ein deutsches Volk gibt und ein Deutsches Reich! Adolf Hitler, 20.9.39" ("Danzig was German, Danzig has stayed German, and Danzig will from now on be German, as long as there is a German nation and a German Reich! Adolf Hitler, 20/09/1939").

On the afternoon of the 19th of September Hitler entered Danzig as the victorious commander in chief who had defeated Poland and proceeded to the Artushof at the Long Market, to give his first speech subsequent to the Reichstag speech of the 1st of September. There he was received by Gauleiter Forster and the Danzig party leaders, the new military commander for Danzig and West Prussia, General der Artillerie Heitz, Keitel, Ribbentrop, Lammers, Himmler, Dr. Dietrich, Bormann and his adjutants.
