The end of WWI and the Treaty of Versailles gives rise to a
multitude of groups and organizations of various shapes and sizes in
Germany, many come and go this one is an interesting example of one such
group. In fact fact this group actually tips the weirdo scales pretty
heavily and I had to go back and look at them, at least what is known of
them.
The Thule Society is a sponsor/predecessor of the D.A.P which is the predecessor of the N.S.D.A.P, and that makes the Thule a root of the Nazi party, and its a masonic order. Its official name is Thule-Gesellschaft and was a Munich based organization that ran in line with the Germanenorden or Order of Teutons.
The order essentially exists for a period of approximately 4 years from 1919-1923 and boasts membership rolls inclusive of Rudolf Hess, Hans Frank, Dietrich Eckart. Its philosophy was anti-Semitic and its interests were in the origins of the Aryan race as being a lost ancient land in the Atlantic called Thule and referenced with both Scandinavia and the lost city of Atlantis.
There is quite a bit of information on this group on the web, far too much for me to go into here and it is a political entity yet has an obvious interest that would be more in line with the SS than the NSDAP it would seem. Either way with the short window of its existence and its history as it is I am not surprised that this is the first time I have seen these items in hand.
