Schellenbaum Pattern Eagle in Bronze # 3131
Offered is a large, Third Reich era schellenbaum pattern eagle cast in bronze and still mounted to its original marble base. The eagle measures 22 1/4" across the wings, and about 16" tall, including the base. The body of the eagle is hollow, the opening in the mouth. The variegated marble base is asymmetrically cut to match the basic shape of the eagle, with a flat section in the center front for attaching a plaque, possibly. The casting it high quality, though neither signed nor foundry marked. It still has the typical flocked paper underneath the stone base. This is an untouched, original casting dating before 1939.
