Imperial/ 3rd Reich Presentation Eagle # 1865

Going into the holidays I will be listing some nice bronze eagles for those that appreciate them. Nice original examples of various style and open to individual taste, but each example would do well as an accent piece for the collector in his collection or bunker.

Imperial German presentation bronze eagle to a retiring Major of Eisenbahn Regiment No. 2.  It dates from the late 19th to early 20th century.  This finely detailed bronze eagle measures 8 1/4" tall and has a 9" wingspan. It is unmarked.   It has a dark patina, and is mounted on a roughly hand-hewn green/grey marble base with two copper dedication plaques. The upper reads: Dem scheidenen Kameraden Major Gerhard das offizier Korps des Eisenbahn Regiment No. 2.  The piece was re-gifted in 1938 and the second plaque reads: Meinem lb. Paten Heinrich Dette z. Andenken. 27.3.1938.  The eagle and base are both in excellent original condition. Scarce presentation to  a Railway Regiment!
